Shifting Summer

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

A short summer shift is a bold move for us long legged girls because anything I wear looks short on my legs haha! I'm glad the shift had sleeves otherwise I would've felt too exposed. If you're going to rock a shift make sure that you cover up on top so you can show off your legs!

Shape Shifters:

Lewis Sweater Shift  is a good option for fall (shame on me for bringing it up). You can wear this one with deep plum leather booties.

Tunic I'm wearing (No longer available)

My bag is Rebecca Minkoff from like 4 years ago! Cuter option here

You know I love maxi dresses- I just feel prettier in a long dress! I'm always looking for new prints to spice up my closet. I got my dress at Nordstrom Rack a few months ago, it's no longer available, BUT I found similar options below that are even prettier, yay!

:: Outfit ::
  • A chevron dress  is perfect for summer afternoons beneath the trees. Also this dress is a similar style and a best seller.
  •  A denim vest is flattering over dresses to add texture.

Creating something better: Boys and Bombshells

Thursday, May 8, 2014

Thank you for reading my blog! Really, every reader counts.
I am on break from school and I am really excited to be reading some books on CSS/html and creating websites and layouts (not being sarcastic- it is actually interesting to learn).

I am a perfectionist :) So i want my fashion blog to be the best and your favorite.

I am just getting started and their are bloggers who have been at this for years. The only thing I can do right now is outwork them. While I appreciate them and admire the popular bloggers, they have inspired me so much... I still want something great for myself and for others to enjoy.

One of the things that I really want is for my blog to have an impeccable layout, which is why I am rolling up my sleeves so I can design the new Boys and Bombshells for myself ( and eventually design other bloggers blogs, if they want to).

My drive for perfectionism will take some time :) So please be patient!
Also if I find out any cool tricks for blog design I will be sure to create brief tutorials and share with you! I know it can be frustrating finding information sometimes.

Thank you again for reading and subscribing to the blog.
I know you will like what is to come.

What part of your life are you seeking to change?

Sephora Haul: Skin Drinks

Thursday, April 24, 2014

Your skin is your most important accessory. Having clean, moisturized skin is something that will immediately boost your confidence and put you in a good mood. I am a beauty junkie so I have tried a lot of the popular brands and top 100 beauty products.

I recently went to Sephora and had a mini haul. I went in for eye cream and came out (thankfully) with much more skin goodies than intended. Below are the products I purchased and a brief review.

Product Breakdown:

1.  Caviar Moisture Replenishing Shampoo ($32.00) and  Caviar Moisture Replenishing Conditioner ($32.00) are anti aging products but are suitable for any age. They have high reviews on Sephora so I decided to give it a try. It also comes in a smaller size for $8.00 if you want to sample it.

2. Caviar CC 10-in-1 Cream $25.00.
Okay this is a MUST have beauty product. I received a tiny size of this for my beauty insider points and I will definitely be buying the full size of this... It has 10 benefits, which means you don't have to use other products in your hair. Moisture, shine, *UV protection, smoothness, heat protection (from styling tools), softness, anti-breakage, light hold, manageability, and strength. It is also lightweight enough to be applied to wet or dry hair.

This is like a moisture drink for the skin. I was scared of it at first, but once it touched my skin I was like WOW is this real life. My skin drank it up and I instantly was glowing. I even coaxed my mom to try it and she made an OMG face at me. We both love it! It also made my skin feel silky. I will definitely be buying the big bottle of this.

This is why I came into Sephora... I needed an excellent eye cream. I have applied eye cream since I was 12. I had previously used Olay regnerist eye cream, which is amazing but I wanted to feel a little more spoiled.

Every make up artist has this in their kit. Spray onto your face throughout the day for a healthy glow. Water is essential, to drink and to apply to the skin for optimal glow.

I received a sample size of this product, I didn't really notice a difference and to be honest I don't like to tan my face with lotions. I usually will just use a bronzer on the cheek and that's enough. This has gotten mixed reviews on Sephora's site, it's worth reading reviews before you buy a product but experimenting is the best way to find out if it's for you.

I LOVED this super primer. This was given almost 5 stars on Sephora, really has gotten superb feedback. I was amazed at how soft it made my skin. It really gives you a flawless canvas before foundation, which is what primer is all about. I definitely think you will gush over this.

Hope you are enlightened about some new skin treasures. If you have any additional questions, feel free to comment below!

Happy Easter Weekend Loves! You'll never wear sweatpants again once you rock a playsuit. This jumpsuit seemed like the perfect color and fabric for a breezy weekend in Chicago. I got my jumpsuit from Urban Outfitters -no longer available :( . Similar here,   there,   ouuu pretty fabric.

Or check out these even cuter alternatives:

I belted my jumpsuit. It's so comfy but I still wanted to show off my shape and not be lost in the fabric.

And don't forget to have fun accessorizing!

Last Winter Look

Monday, March 31, 2014

I went for a walk downtown with my friends and got a photo op in this horse carriage. Hype and Follow me on LookBook.

This look is simple, comfortable and classy. You can take it easily from day to night. A black maxi dress is a staple for me. I sometimes add a beautiful belt ($48)...Take your pick here!

My dress was from Nordstrom's Rack awhile back. Similar look can be achieved:
Topshop Maxi Dress $36 (cheap!) or try this for a more tailored look $78. I will include a bunch of different style maxi dresses that I think are affordable, fashionable, and work for a woman's body.

You've all seen me throw this BCBG leather jacket on almost every outfit, because it works! I love the draping in the front. You can get the same look here.($298) It's a universally flattering cut on for your frame and arms.

Another stunning color is this grey opal draped leather jacket ($298). As a side note Trouve is one of the most exquisite labels to turn to for stunning garment shapes.

I wore black tights ($28) with my dress.

Also don't forget to shop Neiman Marcus Last Call for sales. ENDS TOMORROW! AH!

Genevieve

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

Every girl should have a chic French alter-ego, and Genevieve is mine. A floral blouse is feminine and makes me feel put-together. Also a fun color palette like this one adds brightness to your outfit. I wear floral all year long-life's too short to be gloomy!

It's not too early to invest in a pair of white denim skinny jeans. Another white denim option here

Genevieve would never leave the house without a stunning cuff. This stone is natural and lady-like. She's a mysterious one, and hides her batty eyelashes behind a pair of cat eye sunglasses

She's always on the go so she opts for a pair of comfy but stylish heels!  The two-toned looks very Parisian this time of year. A versatile alternative are these black Vince heels which are timeless.

Another pair of sunnies (and quite cheap!) Genevieve is a poet of course so she needs beautiful Kate Spade notebooks to keep her inspired. She stores them insider her French Bulldog tote (awww!)

New hair color! Do you like it?! I am so happy I am lightening up. The floral top really makes my makeup instantly seem prettier.

But here's what I used:
1. I wash my face in the morning with Soy face cleanser which I have recommended to all of my friends. They LOVE it too.

2. After gently washing I apply Vitamin C truth serum which gives me a healthy glow. There is a smaller size available if you want to try it, but I honestly aware by this! You will notice the glow.

3. I moisturize with Aveeno  because it has SPF or Ole Henriksen smoothing moisturizer. I buy that little box and use the Vitamin C serum and night cream as well.

4. Lastly I finish off the skin with Olay eye serum. Eye cream is a MUST.

What would Genevieve wear? Shop the look:

Well, I sure had fun pretending to be French Genevieve. I'm off to my next adventure for the night. Take care loves.

I felt like I was on another planet in this greek goddess gown from BCBG (This is the same gown but a different color).

This dress is so intricate and stunning, I really felt powerful in it. Long maxi dresses are more elegant and sexy to me than a short mini dress. There is something about feeling graceful...

I love pairing something unexpected like a tan leather jacket (BCBG jacket pictured) with a dramatic gown. It tones it down so it is more wearable for day time. You can take a dress and make it boho or glamorous with the right accessories.
