Blogger Crush Wednesday: Gal Meets Glam

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

Who: Julia Engel is the blogger brain and beauty behind Gal Meets Glam.

One of  my biggest inspirations when I started fashion blogging was that I wanted Julia Engel's life. Her hair, her clothes, her job, her house, her relationship with her husband... and all of this fresh out of college! I have one year until I graduate (no pressure). What girl doesn't want to mix fashion and beauty with their career!? I aspire to have quality content like her blog.. the photographs are always pristine and her style is the perfect mix of feminine and cute. Think eye-catching, simple yet glamorous, and definitely girly! She has the same style as me so I would totally steal all of her outfits!

Get her style:

Who are your blogger crushes? It's WCW so Boys and Bombshells loves to support other bloggers on this day especially!

Stay motivated, hungry, and inspired.

Get The Look: Jessica Alba's White Blazer

Sunday, July 20, 2014

Theory White Blazer  ($415) Fully lined and loose fitting- the long hem is flattering. Make sure your aren't swimming in the fabric- especially for petite and shorter girls. The longer hem will work towards your benefit if the blazer is tailored at the waist.

Madame PM ($3,500) A lady never skimps out on a handbag. Jessica Alba carries some seriously feminine purses-look for soft colors and hints of French flare.

Alexander Wang Tank ($75) A worn-in white tank top paired with a blazer is tres chic. Wear with eggplant pants like Jessica or a dark denim wash and leather.

Topshop Jacquard Shell (On sale for $44 at Nordstroms pre-fall sale!) This mint green color looks flawless with white.

Larsson & Jennings Gold Watch ($364) Your time is precious and so are your accessories. Jessica wears a sophisticated gold watch to her night-out look.

Alice and Olivia Eggplant Pants ($264) Lightweight fabric with these bold color pants- great for the office or professional settings and way more fun than boring black.

Genetic Los Angeles Mid Rise Skinny Jeans ($191) These jeans are a perfect fit and wash for adding a blazer. Also roll up 1/4 inch at the ankle like Jessica did here.

Sophia Webster Riko Pumps ($695) These shoes are a major lust-have. A woman should have two things: Good hair and good shoes. Waah-laa. Another option from Joie

Melissa Jean Jason Wu Flats ($105) Playful red ballet flats with the current cut-out obsession.

Keep it classy like J.Alba ladies! Next stop: the hairdresser to get her beautifully colored locks!

Anthropologie Haul

Saturday, June 28, 2014

I am going to France in a few days to study abroad and I am so excited! I keep mentally planning my outfits and I had to buy some new pieces to wear when I am there. Anthropologie is my all time favorite store, I wear something from there almost every day haha so I stopped into their sale and bought this hat which I think will be perfect for Europe! I love the white with the woven accents- so gorgeous and luxurious. This modern and bright tunic is going to be worn as a dress. Haha I tried it on and I think my butt is in the clear! You can also wear it over white denim or dark denim as a tunic. A French Phrasebook is a must have- it has a dictionary and phrases with pronunciation-so helpful! My mom and I were flipping through it and some of the phrases were like "Where can i get a bikini wax?" I think the author knows me too well.

Anyways, what are you treating yourself to this weekend?

Over 800 items at 50% off! Is this real life?! Come on I know you love Anthro.

Style How-To: Mixing Prints

Friday, June 20, 2014

Mixing printed fabric doesn't have to be thought of as mixing oil and water. Style is a reflection of self so show off your creative and sharp mind by mastering the art of mixing prints. This post serves as an inspiration for you to be brave and creative. I put together some outfits with rich colors and eye catching prints that I think you will like!

See my wedges? I love mixing in straw and cream shoes or bags to help ground your fun prints. It's cuter than just a basic leather shoe and has character!

Try: A suave hat or woven clutch

What's your favorite way to mix prints? Comment below and I hope you liked this post! I am really getting in to the graphic design so that I can convey my content in the prettiest way to you.
Keep inspiring each other! :)

Monday Motivation + The Lust List

Monday, June 9, 2014

Good morning bombshells. About to leave for socialism class (gag) but thought i'd stop in and say hi first.

Please pardon my french but these words struck me. Writing down your dreams and goals may seem silly but once the words start flowing you can strike gold. And even if you don't it's better to be more aware of your thoughts and plans than to be oblivious. Taking extra initiatives is what sets successful people apart. You don't have to spend hours planning your life-just work on it every single day and be intentional. I promise you'll be inspired and inspiration is the fuel for us brainy bombshells.

This is an instagram worth following: The Lust List

Speaking of LUST...here are my picks for the day.

Sending you virtual peonies on this pretty day :)

Motivation + Greek Yogurt Cookie Dough (Gluten Free)

Sunday, June 8, 2014

Motivating yourself is like bathing-you have to do it every day! Motivation requires constant upkeep and care-keep watering your inner garden.

Anyways just had to get that out of my system and share with you. Fueling you fuels me.

Speaking of fuel....

This gluten free cookie dough greek yogurt recipe is as yummy as it looks. Best part is that you can just mix the yogurt, vanilla, and honey together in the yogurt container!
I was searching for yummy and healthy treats (oxymoron right?!) but I think this pretty much hit the nail on the head. Thanks 5 foot 7 always happy to find new sources for inspiration!

Have a yummy breakfast and beautiful morning. I'm working on a DIY project then shooting some outfits tonight :) Stay tuned

First it is my shop-a-holic duty to inform you of J CREW's sale going on right now. 25% of summer styles for men, women, and kids- online only! Use code: SUMMERTIME. I am buying a bunch of bikinis while they are on sale. Tell me this isn't the cutest thing ever?!

1. Shocking Pink Beach Towel ($76) is soft and pretty-it is a blend of woven and terry cloth...mmm.

2. Hampton Triangle Bikini ($375) Kelly Green is a preppy and flattering color. This moderate coverage bikini is made from UPF50+ protection and hardware that doesn't heat up in the sun. Genius!

3. Create or flatter curves in this Navy Lace Up Bikini ($280) which is designed to suit curvy and petite frames.

4. Seersucker Gold Trim Top ($58) and Seersucker Bottom ($48) is a personal favorite of mine. It's skimpier but still classy. Nothing says summer like seersucker and the gold hardware makes it that much more luxurious.

5. Printed Espadrilles ($60- on sale!) are classic and comfy.

7. Instax Mini 8 Camera ($100) Instantly snaps credit card size photos and detects lighting and includes a feature for taking a softer, more flattering photo (LOVE!)

3 Ingredients: Berry Beautiful Smoothie

Friday, June 6, 2014

All you need is 1 cup of Greek yogurt (Oikos Vanilla 0% Fat is what I used), 1 Cup of Orange Juice, Handful or cup of berries ( I used a frozen blend of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries), and a Juicer- here's my Nutribullet (on sale!)

Add the juice in first, then the yogurt, and the berries. You can add more berries or juice depending on the consistency that you want. Snap the top on and blend for 2 minutes.

Voila! It's sooo good- I gave it to my friends during finals week. I love that it's really refreshing and gives me energy!

Hope you enjoy. You can also try experimenting with the fruit- sometimes I put in mango and pineapple or swap out the orange juice for grapefruit juice.

No shame in taking a selfie today. It was super hot out and I was on my way out to lunch. I've been craving clutches lately-they just seem  more effortless! I highly recommend buying a white summer dress, I got so many compliments today (mainly from creepy guys) but still! It is fun to show off your feminine and classy side on those super hot days.

Get What You Want- Stay on Track

Monday, May 26, 2014

You and I are both alike in that we have overwhelming goals. I started summer class last week (yuck) and my campus is deserted- all of my friends left for the year. I was feeling like a lost cause and not knowing what to do. I am the type of person who always has to be working towards things- I don't even watch T.V ( i feel guilty just sitting).

Sometimes you get out of funk and lose momentum. It's normal- but instead of letting it pass, I want to make sure I am keeping my finger on the pulse of what I am going after and being proactive.

If you really want to go after your dreams you have to put yourself in the best position. I think of an airplane getting ready for take-off. There is maintenance to be done to the plane before it can fly and you have to get rid of any dangers that could cause it to crash.

Your distractions and bad habits will hinder you from getting to where you want to be. You also have to be an advocate for yourself and aggressive. Whenever I think I am working hard, something comes along and reminds me I can be working even harder.

(Sorry, tough love works with me)

Ask yourself....

1. What's distracting you? Or WHO is distracting you? Is it good for you or does it make you feel worse?

(Okay, so this is silly but I felt like the past week I was getting distracted with boys. I kept texting, taking pictures, and wanting to cuddle (grossssss) and then this morning I was like "EMMY- you gotta stop-this isn't you and you're just bored." ) I also promised myself I would remain single until I felt I had accomplished more.

(^^See, like what a waste of time)

2. Are you keeping a routine?

Even if there is no point- successful people develop a disciplined routine. I like to wake up early and workout, clean, and plan my day. This confidence and self discipline will help you remain on track with your goals.

3. What do you want?

One of my favorite phrases is "be intentional" meaning to do everything with purpose that comes from within. Basically, do all things with passion.

I think getting off track of your goals can be a good thing- it snaps you out of bad habits and distractions and allows you to evaluate yourself and your plan even more.

My parents always tell me I am the most determined person they know-and it's definitely one of my favorite qualities. But being driven doesn't last unless you motivate yourself daily (it's like showering- you have to keep doing it to stay refreshed!).

Go after your dreams loves
